چکیده
Climate change is being intensified by anthropogenic emission of greenhouse gasses, highlighting the value forests for carbon dioxide storing in their biomass. Seasonally dry tropical are a neglected, threatened, but potentially critical biome helping mitigate climate change. In South America, knowing amount and distribution Caatinga seasonally vegetation essential to understand its contribution global cycle subsequently design strategic plan conservation. The present study aimed model map spatial potential forest biomass stock across 32 fragments Caatinga, state Bahia, Brazil, using regression kriging Inverse Square Distance techniques, building from point measurements made on-the-ground ecological plots. First, estimating was fitted as function environmental variables apply kriging, then applied maps selected components. Elevation, temperature, precipitation explained 46% variations Caatinga. residuals showed strong dependence were mapped based on geostatistical criteria, selecting spherical semivariogram interpolation ordinary kriging. Biomass also approach. quality suggests that there good here variables. greater detail revealed trend increasing north south domain. Additional studies with sampling intensity use other explanatory suggested improve model, well maximize technique’s ability capture actual behavior this newly studied ecosystem.

متن کاملUncertainty in the spatial distribution of tropical forest biomass: a comparison of pan-tropical maps
BACKGROUND Mapping the aboveground biomass of tropical forests is essential both for implementing conservation policy and reducing uncertainties in the global carbon cycle. Two medium resolution (500 m - 1000 m) pantropical maps of vegetation biomass have been recently published, and have been widely used by sub-national and national-level activities in relation to Reducing Emissions from Defor...
متن کاملHuman and natural controls of the variation in aboveground tree biomass in African dry tropical forests.
Understanding the anthropogenic and natural controls that affect the patterns, distribution, and dynamics of terrestrial carbon is crucial to meeting climate change mitigation objectives. We assessed the human and natural controls over aboveground tree biomass density in African dry tropical forests, using Zambia's first nationwide forest inventory. We identified predictors that best explain th...
متن کاملSpatial distribution of forest aboveground biomass estimated from remote sensing and forest inventory data in New England, USA
We combined satellite (Landsat 7 and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) and U.S. Department of Agriculture forest inventory and analysis (FIA) data to estimate forest aboveground biomass (AGB) across New England, USA. This is practical for large-scale carbon studies and may reduce uncertainty of AGB estimates. We estimate that total regional forest AGB was 1,867 teragram (10, dry weight)...
متن کاملControls of Soil Spatial Variability in a Dry Tropical Forest
We examined the roles of lithology, topography, vegetation and fire in generating local-scale (<1 km2) soil spatial variability in a seasonally dry tropical forest (SDTF) in southern India. For this, we mapped soil (available nutrients, Al, total C, pH, moisture and texture in the top 10 cm), rock outcrops, topography, all native woody plants ≥1 cm diameter at breast height (DBH), and spatial v...
